In 2004 I met a friend who is nuts about anime, who endeavoured to transmit his mania to me. I really enjoyed Stellvia of the Universe and a couple of other series. I'm lost without the subtitles, but I was surprised at how many individual words I could still understand (and translated into English in my head.) I credit this to all those drills with Japanease.
